1st Dan Timescale 1 year consistent practice as 1st Kyu. Technique Randori no Kata * complete (17)
Koryu dai San * sections: A + B (16)
Koryu dai Yon * complete (25)
Previous syllabus as required at the discretion of examining panel. Application

Randori: a minimum of three bouts of hikitategeiko.

  • One bout must demonstrate knowledge and application of kaeshi waza (5 atemi waza from the Randori no Kata as
    counter techniques by tanto against toshu) in tanto hikitategeiko.
  • One bout must demonstrate the use of combination techniques by toshu against tanto.
  • The third bout must demonstrate a knowledge and application of the 17 Randori no Kata in combination and as counter technique in the performance of toshu hikitategeiko.

2nd Dan Timescale 2 years consistent practice as 1st Dan Technique Koryu dai San * sections: A + B + C + D (29)
Goshin ho section: Techniques from tegetana no kuzushi (8)

4th Dan Timescale 4 years consistent practice as 3rd Dan. Technique Koryu dai Ni complete (16)
Goshin ho Datotsushu no waza – against strikes, punches and kicks (6)
Tekubi dori 2 – against grips (18)
